Phase 1 – Implant Placement
For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures:
Surgical Placement:
Implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months, they remain beneath the gum surface, bonding with the bone. You can wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time.
Design Phase:
While healing takes place, your restorative dentist designs the final bridgework or denture to improve both function and aesthetics.
Phase 2 – Uncovering and Restoration
After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins.
Uncovering the Implants:
Your periodontist or oral surgeon will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar.
Final Restoration:
Dr. Fuentes will begin making your new teeth. An impression is taken, and posts or attachments are connected to the implants. Then, the final replacement teeth are crafted and secured.
The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
